FAMILY BUSHCRAFT & SURVIVAL WEEKEND EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW

The content of this course is similar to our adult Bushcraft & Survival Weekend course, but shorter and tailored to a younger audience.

Nothing is 'dumbed down' - both adults and children will take away bushcraft skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime.

We will cover the essential survival elements: Shelter, Water and Fire. You'll be given expert instruction and demonstrations, plus there will be plenty of time for you to apply and work on these skills under the friendly guidance of your instructor.
Activities are designed for everyone in your group to get involved in their own way - whatever their age!

Arrival is on Saturday morning at 9am for a 10am start, giving you time to settle in, set up your tent ready for the opening briefing.

As Saturday progresses we cover natural shelters, tarps and hammocks, Bushcraft knife safety and use, methods of fire lighting, finding and safely purifying water.

As we move through the woodland you will be taught how to identify the plant and tree species we encounter and how to harness their natural gifts, be that food, medicine or materials such as cordage, tinders and more.

On the Saturday night, should you choose to, you can experience sleeping in your own natural shelter as our ancestors did, with the added luxury of a sleeping bag of course, plus we’ll provide you with a bivy bag to keep you dry and comfortable!  You’ll also have the opportunity to try out a modern tarp and hammock sleep systems if you wish.

On Sunday your instruction will start again at 9am with the importance of leaving no trace before packing down leaving the woodland.

You will learn that most fundamental skill for self-reliance, making fire, in any conditions.  From this point you then have warmth, light, the ability to cook, and to purify water.

You will learn how to find water, make it safe and ensure that all of your activities leave no lasting trace on the environment.

TIME SCHEUDLE

Arrival is 09:00 on Saturday morning giving you time to settle in and set up camp before the opening briefing at 10:00. The day's structured activities end at 17:00 for dinner break, regrouping around the main campfire for a last relaxed lesson at 19:00

On Sunday your instruction will start at 09:00 for a final activity before packing down and checking out by 11:00.
